From 9 to 21 February 2027, Otepää will host the LaVita IBU World Championships Biathlon for the first time. To make getting to the event easy and convenient, special shuttle buses will operate from Tartu, Tallinn, Pärnu, Viljandi and Riga. Shuttle bus tickets are available through Piletilevi.

While spectators could travel to the World Cup event in March by shuttle bus from Tartu, the organisers have significantly expanded the transport options for the World Championships.“We will offer shuttle bus services to the World Championships from four Estonian cities as well as the Latvian capital, Riga. The biathlon events in Otepää always attract a large number of Latvian fans, and the shuttle bus service will make it possible for them to attend the World Championships even for just one day, without having to worry about transport or accommodation,” said Aivar Nigol, President of the Organising Committee.

Shuttle buses will depart on every competition day, allowing spectators plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere at the venue before the evening races. Return buses will depart one hour after the final race of the day. Later departures to Tartu will also be available for those wishing to enjoy the entertainment programme in the fan tent. All shuttle buses will stop at Otepää Bus Station, approximately a 10-minute walk from Tehvandi Stadium. “To help us plan the shuttle bus services as efficiently as possible, we kindly ask spectators to purchase their bus tickets well in advance,” added Nigol.

Spectators arriving by car will be able to park free of charge along the roads leading into Otepää or in temporary parking areas, depending on weather conditions. Shuttle buses will transport visitors from these parking areas to Otepää Bus Station. Visitor parking will not be available on the streets of Otepää. “Our goal is to ensure that the tens of thousands of sports fans attending the World Championships can reach the venue as conveniently and smoothly as possible. At the same time, it is important to us that the increased traffic associated with such a major event causes as little disruption as possible to the daily lives of the local residents,” said Nigol.

The LaVita IBU World Championships Biathlon will take place in Otepää from 9 to 21 February 2027. Event tickets and shuttle bus tickets are available through Piletilevi. Admission is free for children aged 14 and under.
